2002 // Tomihiro Museum /
--
The making of this Tomihiro Museum is based on the idea of dwelling and contemplation. It is a vessel which contains and embodies the sensibility and the work of artist Tomihiro Hoshino. Like the white paper that Tomihiro uses to ground his work, the museum is contained within a sheet of waterscape underneath. Three permanent galleries are connected by pathways that meander through the site, hovering over the water feature. Apertures and thresholds of the museum provide controlled nature light, allowing maximum viewing for the visitors and preservation condition for the paintings. These openings also frame the nature of Azuma-mura in a particular way, looking from inside out.
